- Draft: only you, while you build and test
- Private: only the Google emails you list
- Unlisted: anyone with the link, not listed anywhere
- Public: anyone can find it and chat
- Change the level any time with one tap
How it works
In three steps.
- 1
Start in draft
A new fad begins in draft. Feed it, shape it and try it as much as you like. Nobody else can open the link yet, so mistakes are private.
- 2
Pick the level that fits
For a shop, choose public. For a client or team, choose private and list their emails. For a soft launch or a WhatsApp group, choose unlisted so only people with the link reach it.
- 3
Change it whenever you need
Visibility is one tap, not a setup. Go unlisted while you update prices, then back to public. Set it to draft during a long holiday if you prefer.
Why it matters
What changes for you
- Use unlisted for a WhatsApp group or a batch of students who do not need Google sign-in.
- Before going public, read the Try tab answers for your top ten questions once more.
- Set the fad to draft if you need to pause it. Visitors cannot open it.
Questions people ask
What is the difference between unlisted and public?
Both let anyone chat without signing in. The difference is who can find it. A public fad is open for anyone to find and chat with. An unlisted fad is reached only by people who have the link, and fad.fyi does not list it anywhere.
Can I publish an empty fad?
No. A fad needs at least one source before it can leave draft: a file, a link, some pasted text, a Q&A pair or a product list. This protects your visitors from an empty chat that cannot answer anything. Feed it one thing and you can go live.
Does changing visibility change my link?
No. Your address fad.fyi/yourname stays the same at every level. Only who can open it changes. Printed QR codes and the website widget keep pointing to the same place, so you never reprint for a visibility change.
What do visitors see when a fad is in draft?
Only you can see a draft fad, after signing in as its owner. Anyone else who opens the link does not get the chat. If you need to pause a fad for a while, draft is the simplest way to do it without deleting anything.
