Feature

Some fads are not for everyone. Keep them private.

Not every fad should be public. Your HR policies, your paid course notes, a client's project files. Set the fad to private and add the Google emails of the people who should use it. They sign in with Google and chat. Anyone else who opens the link sees only a sign-in gate. Add or remove a person any time, from your phone.

What it does
  • Only the Google emails you list can chat
  • Everyone else sees a sign-in gate, not your content
  • Add or remove people any time
  • Works for staff, students, clients or family
  • Switch between private and public with one tap

How it works

In three steps.

  1. 1

    Set visibility to Private

Open your fad and choose Private under visibility. From that moment, the chat page asks every visitor to sign in with Google before showing anything.

  2. 2

    Add the allowed emails

Type the Google email addresses of the people who may chat. Gmail addresses and company addresses that run on Google Workspace both work. Save, and the list is live.

  3. 3

    Share the link with them

Send the link on WhatsApp or email. Each person signs in with their Google account and starts chatting. If someone not on the list opens it, they only see the gate.

Why it matters

What changes for you

Share without leakingYour internal documents stay internal. Even if the link is forwarded, a stranger only meets a sign-in gate. Only listed emails get through.
No passwords to managePeople use the Google account they already have. You never create logins, reset passwords or send codes. Remove an email and that person is out.
Fewer repeat questions at workNew staff ask the same things: leave rules, reimbursement, dress code. A private fad built from your handbook answers them, so seniors are not interrupted.
Tips
  • Ask people which Google email they use before adding them. Many have two.
  • For a course batch, add all student emails at the start and remove them when the batch ends.
  • Keep public information, like fees and timings, in a separate public fad.

Questions people ask

Do the people I add need a fad.fyi account?

No. They only need a Google account. When they open your link, they sign in with Google. If their email is on your list, the chat opens. They do not create anything or pay anything on fad.fyi.

Can I allow everyone from my company domain?

Today you add individual email addresses. Add each team member's work email to the list. If your team changes often, keep the list handy and update it when someone joins or leaves. Removing an email blocks that person right away.

What does a person not on the list see?

A sign-in gate with a Google sign-in button. None of your content or answers is shown. If they sign in with an email that is not on your list, they still do not get in. Your files and answers stay only with the people you chose.

Can I switch a private fad to public later?

Yes, with one tap in visibility. Pick unlisted if you want anyone with the link to chat without being listed, or public if anyone should find and chat with it. You can switch back to private whenever you like.
