- One script tag, pasted before </body>, nothing else to install
- Floating round button in your accent colour, bottom right or left
- Opens the chat in a panel, full-screen on phones
- Shadow DOM keeps your site CSS and the widget from breaking each other
- Works on WordPress, Wix, Shopify or any site where you can add code
How it works
In three steps.
- 1
Copy the tag
In your fad, open Share and copy the widget code. It looks like this: <script src="https://fad.fyi/widget.js" data-fad="yourname" async></script>. Your own address is already filled in.
- 2
Paste it before </body>
Open your website editor or theme file and paste the tag just before the closing </body> tag. On WordPress, a header and footer code plugin does this. Save and reload your site.
- 3
Test on a phone
A round button now sits at the bottom right. Tap it, ask a question, and watch your fad answer inside your site. Want it on the left? Add data-position="left" to the tag.
Why it matters
What changes for you
- Match the accent colour to your website so the button looks like part of it.
- If your site has a WhatsApp button at the bottom right, move the widget left with data-position="left".
- Make sure your fad is not in draft. The widget only works once it is live.
Questions people ask
I do not know how to code. Can I still add it?
Yes. You only copy one line and paste it in one place. Most website builders have a box for custom code or footer scripts. If someone built your site, send them the tag on WhatsApp. It takes them a minute.
Can I change the colour or side of the button?
The button uses the accent colour you set for your fad, so change it there and the widget follows. By default it sits at the bottom right. Add data-position="left" to the tag to move it to the bottom left.
Will it slow down my website?
The tag loads async, which means in the background, after your page content is shown. Visitors see your page first and the button appears a moment later. It does not hold up your page.
Does the widget work on mobile?
Yes. On a phone the chat opens full-screen so there is room to read and type. A close button brings the visitor back to your page. The WhatsApp handoff button works inside the widget too.
