Prompt

A prompt is the question or instruction you type to an AI so it knows what you want it to do.

A prompt is simply what you say to an AI. 'Write a birthday message for my sister' is a prompt. 'What are your timings?' is a prompt. Behind the scenes, AI tools also have hidden instructions, sometimes called system prompts, that tell the AI how to behave, what tone to use and what to avoid.

Writing good prompts has become a skill, because a vague prompt gets a vague answer. But for a business chatbot, your customers are the ones writing the prompts, and they will write whatever they like. So the tool must be set up well in advance, so that any reasonable question gets a good answer.

On fad.fyi you do not write prompts to set up your fad. You feed sources, pick a tone, write a welcome message and three suggested questions, and the rest is handled for you. Each visitor's message is a prompt, and your fad replies from your sources in the visitor's language.
