Hallucination

An AI hallucination is when a chatbot makes up a fact and states it as if it were true.

A hallucination is when an AI makes something up. It might invent a price, a date, a phone number or a rule, and say it in a confident tone. The AI is not lying on purpose. It is trying to produce a smooth answer, and when it does not have the fact, it sometimes fills the gap with words that sound right.

For a business, hallucinations are the biggest risk of using a chatbot. One made-up delivery promise can lead to an angry customer. The cure is to keep the chatbot grounded: let it answer only from known facts, and teach it to say 'I do not know' instead of guessing. Clear, up-to-date sources reduce the problem further.

fad.fyi is built to avoid hallucinations. Your fad answers only from what you fed it. If the answer is not in your sources, it says it does not know and offers your WhatsApp or contact details. If you ever see a weak reply, the Teach tab lets you write the correct answer as a Q&A pair.

ExampleA hallucinating bot says 'We are open on Sundays till 9 pm' when the shop is actually closed on Sundays.
