Sharing your fad and choosing who can see it
Once your fad answers well, it is time to share it. You get a short link, a QR code, a WhatsApp share button and a widget for your website. You also decide who can chat: only you, only people you allow, anyone with the link, or everyone. This page explains each option.
How do people find my fad?
Through your link, fad.fyi/yourname. Put it in your WhatsApp status, your Instagram bio, your Google Business profile or on a printed QR code. Set visibility to unlisted or public first, because a draft is seen only by you. If it is public, anyone can find it; if unlisted, only people with the link can open it.
What is the difference between draft, private, unlisted and public?
Draft: only you can see it, good while you are still building. Private: only the Google emails you allow; they sign in with Google to chat. Unlisted: anyone who has the link can chat, but it is not listed anywhere. Public: anyone can find it and chat. You can change the setting any time in the Settings tab.
Can I keep my fad only for my team or my students?
Yes. Set visibility to private and add the Google email addresses you want to allow. Those people sign in with Google and then chat. Everyone else sees a sign-in gate and cannot get in. This works well for a coaching batch, a staff handbook or a members-only group.
How do I get a QR code?
Open your fad in the app and you will find a QR code for your link. Print it on a standee, a bill, a visiting card or the shop door. Print it at least 2 cm wide so phones can scan it easily. When someone scans it, your chat page opens in their browser.
What does unlisted mean?
Unlisted means your fad is open to anyone who has the link, but fad.fyi does not list it anywhere. People cannot browse or search for it on fad.fyi. It is a good middle choice when you want easy sharing but not a public listing. Share the link only where you want it to go.
Can I change my address later?
Yes. You can change fad.fyi/yourname to a new address in the Settings tab. The old address keeps redirecting to the new one for 30 days, so printed QR codes and shared links keep working for a while. Nobody else can take your old address during those 30 days. After that, update your prints.
Can I put the fad on my own website?
Yes. Copy the widget code, which is one script tag, and paste it just before the closing </body> tag of your site. A floating chat button in your colour appears on every page that has the code.
