Limits and fair use
Every plan has limits so that fad.fyi stays fast and free for everyone. The Free plan limits are generous for a small business. This page lists each one, explains what counts, and tells you what to do if you are close to a limit. It also covers the rules for choosing an address.
What are all the Free plan limits?
3 fads per account. 10 sources per fad. 25 MB per file. 500 messages per fad per day. A small 'Start your own fad' line on your chat page. Web pages are added one page at a time. Those are the limits. Your dashboard shows how many messages your fad has handled today, so you always know where you stand.
What counts as a source?
Each thing you feed your fad: one uploaded file, one web page link or one block of pasted text. Ten of these per fad on Free. Q&A pairs and your product list do not count towards the ten. A tip: one pasted text can hold timings, address, delivery areas and payment options together, so group your notes.
What happens at 500 messages a day?
That is the daily cap for each fad on the Free plan. It counts the messages visitors send to that fad in one day, and the count starts fresh each day. If a fad reaches it, visitors see a short note asking them to come back tomorrow. If you have more than one fad, each has its own 500.
My file is more than 25 MB. What do I do?
Make it smaller. For a PDF, remove heavy images or export it at a lower quality from your PDF tool. For a presentation, save it as a PDF, which is usually smaller. Or copy the important text and paste it as a text source, which needs no file at all and works immediately.
What are the address rules?
Your address is the part after fad.fyi/. It must be 3 to 30 characters long, using only lowercase letters, numbers and dashes. It cannot start or end with a dash. Some names are reserved: brand names, official bodies, risky words and bad words. If a name is taken or reserved, add your city or your trade, like sharma-tuition-pune.
Why is my address reserved or not allowed?
fad.fyi keeps some addresses reserved so that nobody can pretend to be someone else. These include well-known brand names, names of official bodies, risky words and bad words. If your real business name matches one of these, add your city or a word like 'shop' or 'classes' to it. That usually solves it.
What am I not allowed to use a fad for?
Keep it honest and legal. Do not set up a fad that pretends to be a brand, a company or an official body you do not represent; that is why those addresses are reserved. Do not feed it content you have no right to share, and do not pass on other people's private details through it. Use it for your own business, class, clinic or project.
Will the limits go up with Pro?
Yes, for fads and sources. Pro, which is coming soon, will allow more fads per account and more sources per fad. It will also remove the 'Start your own fad' line, read a whole website in one go, and give your fad priority. The exact numbers and the price will be shared when Pro launches.
