FAQ ยท Feeding your fad

Feeding your fad

Your fad knows only what you feed it. The more clearly you feed it, the better it answers. You can give it files, web page links, pasted text, exact question and answer pairs, or a product list. This page explains each type, what works best, and how to fix an answer you do not like.

What kind of files can I upload?

PDF, Word, Excel, CSV, PowerPoint and plain text or Markdown files. Each file can be up to 25 MB. A price list, a brochure, a syllabus, a menu or a fee chart all work well. After upload, the file shows a Waiting status while it is being read. Once that is done, your fad can answer from it.

Can I add my website?

Yes, one page at a time. Paste the link of a page, such as your About page or your Services page, and the fad reads that page. Today you add each page as its own source. Reading a whole website in one go is planned for the Pro plan, which is coming soon.

Can I just type or paste text?

Yes, and it is the fastest way. Paste your timings, address, delivery areas, fees, rules or anything else as plain text. Pasted text is usable immediately, with no waiting. If you are not sure where to start, paste the five things people ask you most. You can always add more text later.

What is a Q&A pair?

It is one question and its exact answer. When a visitor asks that question, the fad replies with your answer exactly as you wrote it, word for word. Use Q&A for things that must be said in a fixed way, like a refund rule, a fee amount or a disclaimer. You can add Q&A directly in the Feed it tab or from the Teach tab.

How do I add my products?

Upload a product list as a CSV file. Only the title column is required. You can also add price, link, image, category and description columns. Your fad then shows matching products as neat cards in the chat, with the picture and the price. A boutique, a mobile shop or a small brand can share its whole catalogue this way.

How many sources can one fad have?

On the Free plan, 10 sources per fad. A source is one uploaded file, one web page link or one block of pasted text. Q&A pairs and your product list do not count towards the 10. If you reach the limit, remove a source you no longer need to add another. A tip: one pasted text can hold many small facts together.

How do I update something, like a new price?

The quickest fix is a Q&A pair. Write the question, such as 'What is the fee for Class 10 maths?', and the new answer. The fad uses your Q&A answer exactly as written. For many changes at once, update your pasted text, or remove the old file and upload the new version. Keep your sources current and your fad stays correct.

What if the fad gives a wrong or weak answer?

Teach it. Open the Teach tab. It lists questions your fad could not answer and replies that visitors marked with a thumbs down. Write the right answer once and it becomes a Q&A pair. Next time, the fad answers exactly as you wrote. This is the fastest way to make your fad better every week.
