Languages your fad can speak
Many Indian customers switch between English, Hindi and Hinglish in the same chat. Your fad follows along. It reads the visitor's message, works out the language, and replies in the same one. This page explains how that works, what to feed, and what to expect from Hindi and Hinglish answers.
Which languages does my fad speak?
English, Hindi and Hinglish. Hinglish means Hindi written in English letters, like 'kitna price hai'. The fad replies in whichever of these the visitor uses. One fad handles all three in the same chat, so a customer can switch midway and still get a proper reply. In the Voice tab you choose which of the three your fad uses.
Do I need to feed it in Hindi too?
No. Feed your fad in whichever language is easy for you. English sources are fine. When a visitor asks in Hindi or Hinglish, the fad answers in their language using what it learned from your sources. If you have Hindi material, you can feed that too. Q&A pairs are repeated exactly as written, so write those in the language your visitors use most.
Will it reply in Hinglish if the customer types in Hinglish?
Yes. If someone writes 'delivery kab tak hogi', the fad replies in Hinglish. If someone writes in Hindi script, it replies in Hindi. If someone writes in English, it replies in English. It follows the visitor, so a chat can switch languages and the fad keeps up.
Can I see which language people used?
Yes. The Chats tab shows each conversation with its language. Over time you will see whether your customers prefer Hindi, English or Hinglish. Use that to decide which language to write your welcome message and suggested questions in, and which language to use for your Q&A pairs.
What language should my welcome message be in?
Use the language most of your visitors use. If your customers mostly type in Hinglish, write the welcome message and suggested questions in Hinglish, like 'Delivery charges kitne hain?'. Visitors feel at home and tap a question right away. Whatever language they then type in, the fad replies in that language.
What about Marathi, Tamil, Bengali or other languages?
Today your fad supports English, Hindi and Hinglish. Other Indian languages are not supported yet. If a visitor writes in another language, the fad may not understand them well. For now, if many of your visitors speak another language, suggest English or Hindi in your welcome message.
Does Hindi work in Hindi script, Devanagari?
Yes. Visitors can type Hindi in Devanagari script, like 'दुकान कब खुलती है', and the fad replies in Hindi script. If they type Hindi in English letters, that is Hinglish, and the fad replies in Hinglish. Both are fine. The fad matches the way the visitor writes.
Will the answer be correct in Hindi if my source is in English?
Yes. The fad takes the facts from your English source and explains them in Hindi. The facts stay the same; only the words change. Prices, names and timings come straight from your source. If you want a fixed Hindi wording for something important, add it as a Q&A pair written in Hindi.
