Getting started with your first fad
A fad is your own AI chatbot. It lives at fad.fyi/yourname and answers questions from the files, links and text you give it. You can build one in about 5 minutes with your Google account. No coding and no password needed. This page covers the first steps, from sign-in to your first shared link.
How do I create a fad?
Go to fad.fyi and sign in with Google. Choose what your fad is for, such as a business or a course, and pick an address like fad.fyi/yourname. Then feed it something: a PDF, a web page link or some pasted text. That is it. Your fad can start answering right away, and everything saves as you go.
What is a fad exactly?
A fad is a small AI chatbot that knows only what you teach it. You feed it your files, your web pages, your text or your questions and answers. Then anyone can chat with it at your link. Think of it as a helper that answers your customers' or students' common questions all day, in their own language.
Do I need to know coding?
No. Making a fad is like filling a simple form. You sign in, pick a name, upload a file or paste text, and share the link. The only time you touch code is if you want the chat button on your own website. Even then, it is one line that you copy and paste. Many people never need it at all.
How long does it take?
About 5 minutes for a basic fad. Sign-in takes a few seconds. Picking an address takes a minute. Uploading a file or pasting text takes another minute or two. Files take a little time to be read after upload, while pasted text works immediately. You can keep improving your fad over the next few days by adding more sources.
Can I make a fad on my phone?
Yes. fad.fyi works in your phone browser. You can sign in, create a fad, paste text, upload files from your phone and share the link on WhatsApp, all without a computer. The chat page also works well on phones, which is handy because many of your visitors will chat from a phone.
What should I feed it first?
Start with whatever people ask you most. A kirana store might paste its delivery areas, timings and payment options. A coaching class might upload its fee list and batch timings as a PDF. A clinic might add doctor timings and the address. Pasted text works immediately, so it is the fastest way to see your fad answer.
What does the free plan include?
Quite a lot. You can make 3 fads on one account. Each fad can have 10 sources, and each file can be up to 25 MB. Each fad can answer 500 messages a day. You get your own link, a QR code and the website widget. Your chat page shows a small 'Start your own fad' line. You pay โน0 for all of this.
